Student Detention Protocols
The detention system at Marymede Catholic College is designed to provide clear consequences for student behaviour while ensuring staff supervision is manageable and equitable.
1. Teacher-Managed Detentions (Lunchtime)
Individual teachers may issue detentions for minor classroom or behavioral concerns.
- Supervision: The teacher who issues the detention is responsible for supervising the student during this time.
- Duration: To ensure students and staff have adequate time for rest and nutrition, no teacher-run detention may exceed half of the allocated break time.
2. Uniform Detentions
Specific detentions regarding student presentation and uniform compliance are managed as follows:
- Secondary School: Supervised by House Leaders.
- Primary School: Supervised by Core Teachers.
3. Formal and Escalated Detentions
For more significant or repeated incidents, detentions are escalated to the following formal structures under the direction of the House Leaders or the Primary Leadership Team (PLT):
- Thursday After-School Detentions: Issued by House Leaders for serious breaches of conduct.
- Saturday Morning Detentions: The highest level of school-based detention, reserved for significant incidents or failure to comply with prior sanctions.
Staff Note: When issuing a detention, please ensure the details are recorded accurately on SIMON to allow House Leaders and Campus Leadership to track student behavior patterns effectively.
