Consultative Committee

At Marymede Catholic College, the Consultative Committee serves as a vital forum for collaborative decision-making. Operating under the provisions of the Victorian Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement (VCEMEA), the committee ensures that staff perspectives are formally considered in the operational management of the College.

The primary role of this committee is to provide a structured environment where the Principal and staff representatives can consult on key workplace matters to ensure transparency, fairness, and professional sustainability.

Key Areas of Consultation

The committee is mandated to meet regularly to review and provide input on the following critical areas:

  • Positions of Leadership (POLs): Consultation regarding the structure, tenure, and allocation of leadership roles within the College to ensure they meet current strategic needs.
  • Scheduled Class Time: Reviewing the distribution of teaching loads and ensuring that classroom hours are allocated in accordance with Award requirements and pedagogical effectiveness.
  • Workload: Monitoring the overall professional demands placed on staff. This includes assessing the impact of new initiatives and ensuring a healthy balance between teaching, administration, and planning time.
  • Meetings: Consultations on the frequency, duration, and necessity of staff meetings to ensure they remain purposeful and respect the “Meeting Curfew” and staff well-being.
