Co-Curricular

The Marymede Co-Curricular Program

Marymede Catholic College is committed to the holistic development of every student. Our comprehensive and evolving Co-curricular Program is designed to complement academic learning by fostering physical wellbeing, creative expression, leadership, and social connection. We believe that these activities are essential for building a vibrant school culture and strengthening the relationship between staff and students outside the traditional classroom setting.

Staff Participation and Requirements

As a cornerstone of our educational philosophy, all Primary and Secondary teaching staff are required to participate in the Co-curricular Program. This collective involvement ensures the diversity and quality of our offerings while allowing staff to share their unique talents and interests with the community.

Program Scope

The program is continuously developing to meet student interests and currently includes:

  • Sporting Competitions: Coaching and managing teams in various inter-school sports.
  • Performing Arts: Assisting with College productions, musical ensembles, and choir.
  • Academic & Special Interest Clubs: Facilitating groups such as Debating, Chess, STEM, and Social Justice.
  • Outdoor Education: Supporting camps, retreats, and excursion-based programs.

Professional Expectations

Participation in co-curricular activities is considered a core professional responsibility. Staff are expected to:

  • Facilitate and Mentor: Lead sessions that encourage student growth and skill development.
  • Consistency: Attend scheduled sessions promptly and maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Engagement: Promote a positive and inclusive environment that encourages high levels of student participation.

Administrative Note: Staff will have the opportunity to nominate their preferred areas of involvement at the beginning of the school year. The allocation of co-curricular duties is managed in alignment with the College’s operational needs and staff expertise.
