CCTV Footage Request

CCTV Footage Request

Overview At Marymede Catholic College, the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors are of paramount importance. The College operates a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system to assist in maintaining a secure environment, deterring inappropriate behavior, and investigating incidents.

Compliance and Governance The use of CCTV at the College is governed by the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) CCTV Policy. This policy ensures that the installation and management of surveillance systems across our schools meet all legal and regulatory requirements, including privacy and data protection standards. All staff are expected to be familiar with these guidelines to ensure that surveillance is used appropriately and ethically within our educational setting.

Purpose and Privacy Access to CCTV footage is strictly controlled to ensure compliance with both MACS policy and state privacy legislation. Footage is recorded for security purposes and will only be reviewed when there is a specific, documented reason to do so, such as an incident report, a breach of school regulations, or a legal requirement.

Requesting Access Staff members who require the review of CCTV footage for a specific, school-related incident must lodge a formal request. Please note that requests should be made as soon as possible, as data is only stored for a limited rotation period before being overwritten.
