At Marymede Catholic College, we utilize a specific system of acronyms and codes to streamline our daily operations. Familiarizing yourself with these conventions will help you navigate timetables, committees, and staff communications efficiently.
1. Staff Identification (Nomenclature)
Staff members are identified by a five-letter code based on their name:
- The Format: The first four letters of the surname, followed by the first letter of the first name.
- Example: John Smith becomes SMITJ.
2. Building and Room Coding
Our room numbering system is designed to help you locate classes across our campuses:
- House-Based Coding: For locations such as House 6 or House 7, the first digit indicates the House, and the subsequent digits refer to the classroom.
- Example: 602 = House 6, Room 2.
- Multi-Level Buildings: These use a two- or three-letter building code (refer to College maps), followed by a floor indicator and room number.
- Level Indicator: 0 = Ground Floor; 1 = First Floor.
- Example: VCE104 = VCE Building, First Floor, Room 4.
3. Campus-Specific Locations
- Primary School: Classes are organized within Houses (e.g., Prep House – House 5) and use numerical codes.
- Secondary (South Morang): Facilities include House 6, House 7, the Founders’ Building, VCE Building & Extension, Senior Specialist Area, and the Marian Learning Centre.
- Secondary (Doreen): Most classes are centered in the Ein Karem Learning Centre.
4. Committees and Leadership Teams
Decision-making bodies and community groups are consistently referred to by these acronyms:
| Acronym | Group Name |
| CLT | College Leadership Team |
| PLT | Primary Leadership Team |
| SLT | Secondary Leadership Team |
| DLT | Doreen Leadership Team |
| PFC | Parents & Friends Committee |
